Honestly.... before Android users had something in the form of Draw.... now we have nothing. No draw, no fresco, and even worse, nothing on the horizon to solve the created problem.

Noone expects Adobe to have anything ready to go. They obviously do not. But committing to something would be better in this case. As there was something they just took away.

I just got a Samsung S6 Lite Tablet and I'm just embarking on trying to find the best app that gives the most realistic emulation of painting on canvas using oils or acrylics and optionally (but not required) watercolors. There are so many apps to choose from hoping to same some time if someone would be so kind as to confirm some things about Fresco. Most all the reviews are more drawing than painting-centric.

1) Which fluid media can it emulate? Oils? Acrylic? Watercolor?

2) It appears to support what is commonly called "impasto" which is that it makes the brush strokes have depth and not be flat. Just confirming this is true and works well?

3) Using layers can you sort of designate the layer as wet paint or dry paint so that a subsequent layer on top of it will either blend/smear with or not smear with the underlying layer?

4) Does it support Samsung S-Pen so that when you tilt the pen the stroke gets wider as it would in real life with certain brushes?

5) Does it have creative options like emulation of a palette knife?

6) Can it create high enough resolution images that would be appropriate for quality prints on large canvases like 4-foot by 5-foot?

7) Is it currently stable and not crashing for Play Store download for Android Tablets?

Fresco is not yet available for Android tablets. So far, only Windows based tablets (Surface etc) or iOS based tablets (Ipads)
It is also available on windows desktops.

This have been a request for quite some time, but we've seen no updates on this. I have no doubt it will be available on Android based tablets in the future, but not in a near one I'm afraid.

This app is not compatible to Android user at all, unlike the previous drawing apps, I cannot use Fresco on my Android phone or my iMac

Yes, you're right, Fresco isn't compatible with Android systems,

only on Ipad, Iphones, Windows tablets (Surface, HP, Lenovo, samsung... ) and Windows on desktop.

As the other user stated, it's not available on Macs or Androids.  I've asked about Macs, especially since the M series macs use the same processor as iPads.  It seems more likely than Android.  And that's no slight to Android. It's just that there's so many different versions of Android running around, with manufacturers changing it to suit their devices and a lot of devices not even using the same generation of Android that it makes it very hard for them to develop it and make it bug free.  It's why they built on iPadOS first. There's no variation on the OS, and most are running the current build.

This is getting ridiculous. You now have better devices for digital drawing on the go than iPhone in the form of Foldables. With the Z Fold series, you can even get a pressure-sensitive stylus.

Samsung tablets in the S-series come with a stylus in the box. Which are unique compared to the (cursing removed) pencil Apple tries to pawn off.

The first time I asked for Fresco on Android was in 2019. We are now almost five years further. Android hardware is objectively more capable of drawing on the go than ever. And yet, not a peep by Adobe. What (cursing removed) are you doing right now?
Suppose Fresco for Android isn't a thing by the end of 2024. I'm just going to quit Adobe products. I'll replace the whole (cursing removed) suite, and Ill make (cursing removed) sure I'll describe it so others can follow my example as painlessly as possible.

The reason why it hasn't came out yet is due to the extremely fragmented nature of Android. Fresco came to iPad first, because iPadOS is consistent across the board, and almost all devices are running the same version of the software. Windows came next, it took a little longer and isn't available to all Windows devices due to various differences in hardware and capabilities. But, unless you have some madman still running Windows XP, most are running a relatively recent version of the software. But even then, all the features aren't available. I briefly had an Wacom Mobile Studio Pro and Live brushes wouldn't work until I updated the graphics driver and even after that, it was extremely limited.  Android is the freakin Wild West. I mean no offense to those who swear by Androids, but you have devices with capabilities all across the board and so many of them are not running consistent versions of the OS, because every manufacturer wants to adopt Android to their version of what they want for the OS, and what version is never consistent. It makes it extraordinarily difficult to develop. They want to release a product that is without bugs and trying to build for Android makes it hard, because what's bug free in the Z-Fold might be buggy AF on a Galaxy. And even if they release it without bugs, you might be without features.  No offense to Android users, but it's a common thread I've heard other developers say as to why they skipped Android, is because it's too hard to develop and make it usable across all devices

That might all be true. But at the price that is being paid for a subscription it should be very possible. Esspecially because they would be far from the first. Also they litterally disproved your hypotheses themselves by releasing Premiere Rush on Android, which I also use. That app was not available across the board at first. It is right now.

Another point, the Android space might be fragmented, like the Windows space. However there are only a few kings in the Android space. When you build for Samsung S-series phones/tablets and Z-series and the Google Pixel series you are hitting over 80% of the potential Adobe Android user base.

The Android market has consolidated so much the last few years, it isnt that bad anymore. Long term support is here now too.

Honestly, your argument is about 5 years old (abuse removed).

Well it obvious Adobe as a company doesn't [cursing removed] for their Android users and considers it's non-apple clientele second rate. So the only rational thing I can do is give the community and Adobe community manager my farewell. I won't be treated as a second rate customer while paying a ridiculous monthly fee. I'm moving to alternatives as of last week. I am completely done with Adobe.

Have a good life, and if Adobe ever decides to change it's annoying way of working I might consider a comeback. But honestly the way things are now. I don't expect it to be likely.

Probably not. They're obviously in bed with Apple and don't care that some of their users use Android devices. Alienate more than 50% of their customer base regarding mobile apps is a business strategy I don't envy. I'm planning on ditching ALL Adobe products because of this.

All I know is that I used Sketch and Draw on multiple android devices for years with no problems. Adobe then withdrew support for those apps and encouraged me to get/stay tuned for an app that does not exist on my OS.

5 years later, nothing. 

5 years later and it's still too difficult for them to "build" a functional app?  Sorry, I don't buy it.

Honestly if I didn't have the account through my job I don't think I'd care, I canceled my personal account and since corel is bundled with wacom I was going to make the switch...still might since even if their customer service is as bad as this at least you aren't paying for the "privilege"

You know the Z Fold is part of the Galaxy line, right? And Google has worked pretty hard with the various hardware manufacturers to make sure Android is consistent across devices, most differences are aesthetic or organizational these days and most of the major players are pretty good with updates generally. So, the "hard to develop for" argument is incredibly dated and does not hold water in 2024. Additionally, hardware wise, it doesn't take much research to know which tablets make the most sense for creative purposes. Even more so than with PCs. Especially with folks like Brad Colbow specialising on reviewing things as creative professionals. Hell, if you want to make it extra easy, focus on recent Samsung devices specifically at first(As Celsys did with Clip Studio) and you're good with most of the recent generations as the S-Pen, which comes in the box(unlike the Apple Pencil), uses Wacom's EMR protocol and other creative software like Clip Studio and Nomad work perfectly. There is no excuse to not support Android at this point beyond being so wrapped up in the Apple ecosystem you haven't even looked at an Android device since 2010.

This is wild. I have an iPad thankfully but I was thinking of getting a Samsung tablet next. I don't understand why they can't develope the app to be cross compatible... It's a bad look and makes me wanna just use procreate.

I've stopped paying for the premium package as I can't use the apps I want on my Samsung S8 Ultra.  Five years ago I asked the same question and I had great hardware then,  nowI've got the perfect tablet and the S-pen is naturally much nicer to use on a screen than the ludicrously priced Apple pencil.  I know because I have both. 

These arguments for sticking to Apple do not stand up in the current climate. Other companies create software for both iOS and Android it and will specify whether their s/w will run on your device or not. So there's your answer, it is a conscious choice by Adobe to not do it and I, for one, have to suspect that Apple have a say in it. 

The comments given above appear to have been written by an Apple addict who had bought into their ecosystem hook, line, and sinker and have absorbed the fear of the 'other'.  I'm afraid your comments are about 6 years out of date, mate.

why does nobody if fresco will even come out for Android. What is wrong with your communication? I don't get it. I just want to know if I need to buy a new device, or if I just need to wait a little longer.

Adobe doesn't generally give a time frame for anything being released, that way they can work on it until it is ready.
