Fresco Layer Mask not working properly

The Hide Layer and Reveal Layer are not working properly.  When I select Hide Layer and use a brush on the mask, it paints red on the mask and does not hide anything.

Have you upgraded to 4.0?

It is the newest version available.  I just downloaded it from the Apple store a few days ago for the first time.
