moving a selection from one layer to another.

I am new to digital media and have searched for this information and could not find it. Is it possible to move a selection from one layer to another layer within the same project? I know in photoshop Ctrl+shift+J can move a selection to a new layer but I didn't have success with this in Fresco. any help or direction to a previous thread would be helpful. thanks.

Can you try: Cut selection > Paste selection ?

    I didn't realize the option was found by right clicking on the layers as far as what to do with the selection. this as obvious as it may have seemed was definitely helpful.
