Hi All
This is a weird one.
I've been trying to rid myself of an old OneDrive account. I've just about got there.
Except I notice that Adobe apps create a new OneDrive folder in my User directory anytime I open one. If I try to delete the folder while the Adobe app is open, sometimes it deletes it and sometimes it has me close the app first.
I've only found a way to set the path in Preference in Phototshop. I can't find a way to set the default path for Illustrator and Character Animator.
Even when I did set the Photoshop default path to one I wanted, it still created a OneDrive directory, so maybe the default paths don't matter and it is another issue.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I'm on a Surface Pro 8, running the most current Windows.
I'm stumped.
Thanks
Peter Hay

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I followed the link and arrived at the same page I originally posted on. I'm not sure what to do from there. The choices are all app-specific. I posted on the illustrator forum because illustrator is one of the apps that creates the OneDrive folder. All my Adobe apps create the directory, so i wouldn't know where to post to.

Hi @peterh40574538,
We are sorry for the delayed response. Would you mind resetting Illustrator preferences and seeing if that helps (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html)?
If it doesn't, would you mind sharing a small recording of your complete workflow and demonstrating the issue you are facing?
Kindly update the discussion if you still need assistance with it. We'd be happy to help.
Thanks,
Anshul Saini

It's doing exactly what I said in a previous post.
Say you always leaving your keys in the fridge. (First off, see a Dr.)
Now, you can't find your keys, where's the first place you should look? Actually, they're not there, but it was smart to look there first. That's what Illy is doing.

It looks more and more like it is time to scrub the system. I can't shake the one drive issue. There's no way to know as far as I know, to find out which files have the onedrive path, so I will just go nuclear. I'm backed up so it's not a big deal. Thanks for helping!

Hi @peterh40574538,
Thanks for sharing the recording. Would you mind confirming what is the default location of the recovery folder in Illustrator preferences > File Handling?
If the recovery folder is not set to the OneDrive folder, then would you mind uninstalling the whole Adobe Creative Cloud using the CC Cleaner tool and reinstalling it again from here?
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Anshul Saini

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, @peterh40574538. Before uninstalling the whole Creative Cloud, would you mind running the Illustrator app only in Safe Mode and checking if the OneDrive folder is getting created or not? The system performs certain checks in Safe Mode and prevents third-party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. This will rule out a theory if the issue is with the Creative Cloud app settings or another app/ process that launches with Illustrator and creates the OneDrive folder.

I followed the steps and ran the log collector while I did it. I hope it worked. I selected Clean All.
here is a shot of the log collector dialog at the end:
I hope that is able to move things forward, let me know if there is anything else to do.

it looks like even log collector creates a new one drive folder. Amazing.

uninstall every cc app including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
then uninstall the cc desktop app, again using the correct uninstaller per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-mes...
clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
reinstall the cc desktop app using the "alternative download links" at the bottom of the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html
use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
NOTE: win 11 users that have trouble with the latest win 10 installer often have success with the older win 10 installer.

I went through all of those steps and the adobe apps continue to create a new onedrive folder each time I open them. I think I will just have to live with this. I really regret ever using onedrive. Never again.

Thanks for trying, @peterh40574538. Would you mind checking if onedrive is properly uninstalled or disabled/ unlinked (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-disable-or-uninstall-onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe...)? If yes, then would you mind checking if this behavior is happening in new admin user account (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-...)?
If yes, then I would recommend you connect with our technical support team (https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen). The team here would be able to perform remote troubleshooting and assist you accordingly.
Thanks,

Are you directly opening files from One Drive? If so that will cause issues with the temp files/folders.
