Adobe Illustrator will not open without installing the legacy Java SE6 runtime

I just went this morning to sign on and make a correction to an Illustrator file and the program would not open. The error box says, “To open Adobe Illustrator CS6 you need to install the legacy Java SE6 runtime”. So I downloaded Java but, it still gives me the same error message. Can anyone help?

You could try and trick Illustrator by just creating two folders as described in this thread: Pls just tell me how - CS6 Yosemite Java

Which system is it?

Did you also install the Java runtime?

Hello Monika,

I’m operating on a Mac with OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6. I did install the Java runtime but, nothing happens.

Thanks, Robert
