Question

All settings reset once typing when creating a new document

This is happening in illustrator 2024 and 2025 for me. Everytime I go to create a new document I will get all of the settings set up and then once I start typing the name of the document all of the settings are reverted back to whatever the inital settings were when I went to create a new document. This frustrating because I won't realize it happens until I've created the document and then I'll have to either resize it or create a new one.

Yep, this happens to me all the time. It used to be only illustrator, but now ID and PS have some of that behaviour too.
While in new file, enter width, clich height and the width resets. And this happens at random, for any field in the new file view.. Illustrator is the worst, its actually very difficult to get a new file with proportions you like coz the fields erase their input...

Just adding that I've had this bug occur on two different computers (one running Windows 10 and the other running Windows 11). Very frustrating.

To help troubleshoot further, could you please try running Illustrator in Safe Mode (Win / Mac) and check if the behavior persists. Ensure only Adobe apps are open during this session and observe if the resetting occurs.

If the issue still happens in Safe Mode, would you be open to having a debug session with our product/engineering team? This would allow us to investigate the issue more closely and gather additional insights. If you’re okay with that, please send me the following details via private message:

Could you perhaps describe step by step so that we can try and reproduce it?

Does that happen after rebooting the computer and resetting the preferences?

Here is a video of what is happening. I go to create a new document and while I'm typing the setting of the document will revert to whatevr the last document was after I've already changed them. I just installed 2025 Illustrator and it was immediately doing this so I think it's safe to say this isn't a preferences issue. This was also happeing with the 2024 version for the last month or two for me

A "NEW FEATURE"!? this is a HUGE hindrance and is totally broken. It should be removed until it can be resolved. We now have to do things in a perfect sequence to create a new document like we have been for over 25 years of creating douments? This is a bug, not a feature.
