Hi people, i am new to illustrator and am having some difficulty editing a logo i had created. I am stuck on how to individually change the colour of what I select without it changing the colour of the other parts of the logo. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

THat looks like a compound path.

Sadly your video is very blurry. So if you could record the screen using your system tools, that would help.

To release the compound path, use Object > Compound path > Release.

When in isolatipn mode, it clearly shows that you are in a compund path. That is why all of the other objects within the compund path are also changing color. As @Monika Gause has said, in order to recolor separately, you must release them per her instructions.

Thank you.

When releasing other compound paths, you will lose the holes in the objects. In those cases you have to select just those affected paths and create new compound paths.
