cant make text into shape

please help.

im trying to make the text intoo an outline but everytime i click and try to out line it outlines the text box and no the text and the text does not turn intoo a shape with the edit points around it. can anyone help me fix this

Maybe View > Show Edges?

Please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels visible (that includes the Layers Panel showing the selected object).

Is the text actually text within Illustrator or a placed graphic?

so basically when i click create outline that is all it does and yes text is from illustrator
