Copy Paste keyboard commands fail only in illustrator

This is getting tiresome. Randomly whilst working in illustrator copy past commands, Ctrl C/Ctrl Z just stop working.

 

No explanation no indication why. I have to select the items then goto the edit menu to do the controls.

 

Windows 11 latest build but its been doing this for months.

 

Auto update is on, latest illustrator.

 

Only does this in illustrator any other app on my computer including other adobe ones,  works just fine, only in illustrator.

The following apps and system settings are know to interfere with the keyboard in Illustrator:

  • WebRoot
  • Apple Terminal
  • Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • »Enable Full Keyboard« in Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard on Mac OS
  • »Keyboard Navigation« in Apple settings > Keyboard
  • Apple Mail, Outlook
  • Spacebar is used as a shortcut by the system
  • Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari
  • Wacom Desktop Center, Wacom settings
  • Windows Touch Pad problem
  • LastPass, Bitwarden (password managers)
  • The VPN
  • LangSwitcher app (it nee

We're sorry about this issue. I agree with Monika's response. This generally happens when your keyboard shortcuts conflict with other applications. In the past, we have seen conflicts with the applications Monika mentioned. This issue is not specific to Windows or Mac. 

Please double-check if you have any of these apps installed on your machine. If not, then proceed with resetting preferences and share your observations with us.

Hello @garethirwin1234,

We understand that technical issues can be frustrating. I hope Monika's suggestions helped resolve the problem. If not, could you kindly try running Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and check if it helps? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

@garethirwin1234 honestly, I would likely reset myprefrences in Adobe Illustrator.

*Note: Sometimes, I will also zap my PRAM on my old MacBook Pro. Not 100% sure if you can do this on a PC

Most probably the issue is linked to one of the apps in the list. That has been the case for the majority of people with this issue.

@Monika Gause is the copying and pasting a PC issue? I have a MacBook running 28.5. I don't have any issues....I wonder if it's a Windows 11 issue? None of my students have an issue

I also have a Macbook and I do not have this issue, but I also do not have any of the problematic things installed or set up. My students so far didn't have this either.

 

But a lot of people have in this forum. I am only gathering the insights gained in this forum. All these apps and things have been figured out in threads in this forum.
