Corel Painter and Illustrator

Community Beginner ,

Hi,

I am trying to make some watercolour brushes on Corel Painter and then use on Illustrator using the pattern brushes tool. However, I have searched for a way to do this conversion but it seems most people say it isn't possible.

I was going to try and convert the Corel file to a jpg and then put it into illustrator. Is this possible or is there another easier way to do this? Or is there a faster way to make watercolour brushes (besides paint it on paper and scan it)?

Thanks!

In Illustrator you could try and use the bristle brushes.

But the other brush types likely won't give you the desired result.

You will probably have to use a mix of techniques.

using brushes, textures, masks, blending modes, gradients ...

No.

Watercolor is simply something that can't be made well as a vector image. It contradicts the principle of how vector graphics work.

What about if I just wanted the effect of watercolour e.g. Making watercolour flowers? But I do want to print it which may affect the vector file a bit?

Do that bit in Photoshop and import it. Mixing apps is the normal way.
