Create outlines shortcut not working.

New Here ,
Apr 16, 2018 Apr 16, 2018

Hello,

So I loaded up Illustrator this afternoon and the create outlines shortcut has stopped working. Every other shortcut works. Ungroup, group, copy/paste etc. Everything else works. Ctrl+shift+O doesn't. Ctrl+Shift+ other buttons work too.  I've checked the preferences to make sure it didn't get unbound somehow and it hasn't. I've restarted my computer, I've updated AI CC and nothing will work. The menu route does work, but that takes too long. I'm selecting the type via the selection tool, not the text tool.

I've tried everything short of reinstalling it. Does anyone else have this issue?

Check Edit > Shortcuts. Maybe reapply the shortcut.

I'm having the same problem.

Oddly enough, going into this and trying to re-apply SHIFT + CTRL + O, it also doesn't recognize the keystrokes there. I ended up having to change it to SHIFT + CTRL + Q in order for it to use a recognizable keystroke. Bizarre bug.

Hi All,

We are sorry about the inconvenience. Have you tried deleting preferences folder manually, if not please try the steps mentioned below:

For MAC

Close all Adobe applications.

~/Library/Caches

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

~/Library/Preferences

Delete or rename  Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 22 Settings folders.

Launch Illustrator from the creative cloud.

For Windows

Close all Adobe applications.

Go to Locations C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and.

Delete or rename  Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 22 Settings folders.

Launch Illustrator from the creative cloud.

Regards,

Srishti

Which system, which version?

WHich other software is running?

Did you alread check what is set up in Edit > Keyboard shortcuts?

Did this ever work?

Are you running some shortcut enhancer in your system?

Please give us details.

1. I'm running the latest version of Windows 7. I never upgraded to windows 10 on this computer - I also run this software on Windows 10, but don't have the issue on my windows 10 computer.

2. I closed all adobe software when applying this fix, including creative cloud. The same problem happens regardless if I'm running adobe alone or with other windows open.

3. Yes, I've checked keyboard shortcuts - if I clear it, and try to set it to CTRL+SHIFT+O, it doesn't even register that I've pressed that button combination - nothing happens. It, however, will let me register CTRL+SHIFT+Q, which is my temporary fix right now.

4. Yes, CTRL+SHIFT+O worked until the first week of May. No new software was added at this time.

5. There are no shortcut enhancers on my system.

Our updates are automatic, I'm not quite sure when they occur. They usually happen overnight.

Hello, I'm having this issue as well in my office. There are 10 users on the exact same hardware, but two of them can't use the outline shortcut. I have tried updating & removing drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling illustrator, removing preferences and re-adding, and editing the shortcuts in the edit > shortcuts menu. I too can't even enter ctrl - shift - O into the shortcut editor, it stays blank. When I do a major uninstall of either drivers or Illustrator the ctrl - shift - O works for the very first outline but then stops working again.

Everyone is on Windows 10 with Radeon R7 450 GPU

Please help!

Obviously the issue is caused by a Radeon driver:

Re: Ctrl + Shift + O shortcut (Create Outlines) doesn't work.
