I just updated to 29.7.1, and the ESC key isn't working when exiting a text frame. It works in Photoshop or Indesign. Already tried to fix the issue: reseting the preferences , changing the keyboard increment. I don't use any Illustrator plugin which could cause this problem.
Any other solution ?
I have installed the beta version of Illustrator, and everything is working fine.
Hello everyone,
The product team has made some improvements in the latest Illustrator (Beta) release. Could you try installing the latest Illustrator (beta) and letting us know if it works for you?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi everyone,
Thanks a lot for sharing your details and for testing different workarounds. Our product team has been reviewing this and, so far, we haven't been able to reproduce the issue internally. To help us investigate further, could you please confirm if you are using any third-party utilities or tools that manage keyboard inputs (for example, key remapping software, shortcut managers, or gaming utilities)?
This information will be very useful in narrowing down the cause. In the meantime, we recommend trying the Illustrator (Beta) build from the Creative Cloud Desktop app, where improvements related to this issue have been made.
We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
Thanks again for your patience and for helping us get to the root of this.
Abhishek

Hi. Thanks for all the response for the issue.
I just tried Illustrator (Beta) and it solved the problem for me!
Just as a heads-up for someone like me; I kept struggling with the latest version (v29.7.1) to get the fix you made as I never had the idea there were seperate Illustrator (Beta) releases. With the Creative Cloud Desktop App, you have to find and click on [Apps] > [Beta] tab to get Beta apps shown in the window.
I'm looking forward to getting a major version with the fix. Thanks.

I have this problem and I do use at least BetterTouchTool and Logi Options+ that might be affecting this. Don't have time to install and try Beta software or debug further at the moment, but just to let you know.

Please update. It's so unpleasant that ESC and arrowkeys are not working properly.

They have just posted that they cannot reproduce it. They can't fix what they can't reproduce.

A very simple feature that has taken a whole month to fix, I don't think they can do it?
