File stored in the cloud, but not displayed.

I have two issues regarding the title:

1-) I saved an Illustrator file in the cloud, same that I want to link in InDesign, and when I try to place it in InDesign, it does not appear in the stored place. I can confirm that it is stored in the cloud, because the cloud symbol is next to the title, and I have already checked the path several times, but it does not appear when I want to make the mentioned link, what can this be due to?

2-) Another indication that it is saved in the cloud, is that, as shown in the screen shot, the Version History panel is available, and, as I understand, this function is only activated when the file is saved in the cloud, is this correct, or is there a way to activate it when it is stored locally? I deduced this because, I wanted to use this feature on a local file, but it was not available, and as soon as I saved it to the cloud, it was immediately activated without doing anything for it.

Unfortunately, Illustrator Cloud documents (.aic) cannot be place in InDesign.

Save them locally to place them in InDesign.

Place from Creative Cloud only works for Photoshop cloud files (.psdc).

Versioning was possible with the Creative Cloud Files folder that synced local files to the cloud, but unfortunately that option was removed. So it is impossible to have versioned files and have them linked at the same time.

Work local and make many backups is the safest workflow.

I understand... the “curious” thing, is that in the window that pops up to place a file in InDesign, it says “Place from Creative Cloud”... which gave me to understand that it was certainly possible, or I don't know then what you mean by those words.

Yes, by placing both files locally I have been resolving the linking, but, I require the function of the versions... both in InDesign, and Illustrator.

Can you guide me in relation to the approaches of the second point please? I mean... how to enable the Version History function if I must store locally in order to be able to link the Illustrator files in InDesign.

Thanks @Ton Frederiks

I understand. Thanks @Ton Frederiks

I'll take some time to make the suggestion to either enable file linking when saving to the cloud, or make available Version History when saving files locally, or better yet, both, unless you think my suggestion would be unsuccessful right off the bat.

@e ch n There does not seem to be a lot of development in the area of Cloud documents, but you can make a feature request or vote for an existing one on UserVoice:
