HELP! Disappearing text on path

HI!
I have a problem with illustrator 2023.
Path texts disappear as soon as I click or convert them to a path.
Sometimes even just opening the file.
This is a big problem that I need to solve quickly.

    Thanks. That seems to help with my test file, but we need files to open up in the correct position.

    I work in packaging and if some type disappears from a client’s design and we don’t catch it, we’re in trouble.

    I understand the risks. It seems fixed for new files, but older files that were saved with the problem still keep the problem. I would make it a habit to nudge the content of older files (maybe write an action).

    I have had this problem. My work-a-round is to lock all layers except the layer with the text. Then "select all" to select text. By clicking on the font size, the text reappeared. Then I converted the text. I am using Illustrator on three computers. This computer at work is running version is 27.9. The computer the at home is running an older version from creative cloud. I hope this is helpful.

    I have the same problem, I cannot connect this issue to a specific font.

      What happens if you Select All and nudge everything (using an arrow key) to the right and nudge it back to the left?

      Save the file, it should behave in the recent version

      I'm having exactly the same problem, on two different jobs. 
      The path is still there when I reopen a file but the text that was on it randomly disappears. It's not hiding, it's just gone. 
      I've been using Illustrator for nearly 30 years and this is the first time that artwork disappears.
      This is not a professional standard. 
      FIX NEEDED ASAP!!!

        Same thing is happening to me. Path on a circle. Text randomly disappears and sometimes scatter everywhere.

          Hello @defaultibmhwr4co8l6,

           

          I see that you're experiencing an issue with text randomly disappearing in Adobe Illustrator. A similar known issue was fixed in the latest version, 27.8.1. Please update if not done already. If updating to v27.8.1 doesn't help, I'd like to gather some additional information to better assist you in resolving this problem:

          • Can you please specify the exact version of Adobe Illustrator that you currently have installed? Knowing the version number will help in troubleshooting.

          • Additionally, could you let me know in which version of Adobe Illustrator the problematic file was originally created? 

          • If possible, could you share the problematic file with us for further investigation? You can use a file-sharing service like Adobe Creative Cloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, or any other preferred method to share the file. Providing access to the file will allow us to examine it more closely and identify potential issues.

           

          Once I have this information and access to the file, I'll be in a better position to assist you in resolving the character spacing and disappearing letter parts issue.

          THis has been reported a couple of times lately and it might be fixed in the public beta. You could try and install that or wait until the next release: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/type-on-path-tool-bug/m-p/13974675#M375173
