Question

Help with scripting or actions, is something available or is it possible.

Hey, just wondering if anyone can help me with a few action/scripts to solve some problems. Thank you very much in advance.

1. The Text-Block script (https://aiscripts.com/illustrator-text-block/) is extremely helpful but was wondering if it's possible to have a version with different parameters in? Control over the maximum height of each line? or is there a better way to solve the problem.

If I have a list of words in a text box is there a way to scale down the text pt size if it goes over a certain length to fit. The text doesn't need to be editable afterward if that helps.

2. Every day I'm saving two pdf versions of a file to a new folder within a set folder. One as standard and another with 'preserve illustrator capabilities turned off' with the naming format 'XXX_mockup.pdf' and 'XXX_send_mockup.pdf.

Is there any way to automate this with actions or scripts? Would it be possible to have an input for the XXX naming and the name of the new folder created?

Thanks so much!

Thanks again Dilliam, not sure this achieves what I'm looking for as it resizes all the text to a preset amount when I tried it out.

Is there a way to resize individual objects if they are over a certain width and ignore any that are under that size?

for example. Selected objects - if width is over 350mm, resize to 350mm?

Thanks in advance

my apologies. i misread the issue. i thought you had overset text. i didn't see that the words were hyphenated and placed onto the next line. you might be able to get that script to work by turning off they hyphenation preference?

Can you share a sample file so i can see how your artwork is formatted? that'll give me the best shot at figuring out a solution.

Just to update and say to ignore the second request as it's been answered elsewhere.

Hi Russell, the whole point of the script is for all text frames to have the same width, height is adjusted accordingly.

can you post a sample showing what you need?

Thank you for replying Carlos.

I likely confused the situation by comparing the TextBlock script. It's just that it's very helpful for other needs of mine.

I've tried to give an idea of what I'm looking to achieve using a list of random names.

Either in a text box or single lines of text, I need the size to change when a line of text 'name' goes over a certain width. The second column shows the names that originally don't fit, then only those scaled-down in the second column then text expanded in the third.

Hope this helps explain it in more detail? Thanks again.
