If you are talking about a pattern inside of a shape and does not warp but you can get it to warp by:

1. adding the pattern to a 3D effect

2. Expanding the fill then using the warp tool, (expand twice. First the object then the fill)

3. Expand the fill then use the envelope distort.  (expand twice. First the object then the fill)
