How to Change Color of Pattern Swatch Easily

I'm wondering how I can change the color of the black stripes in an object like this:

But also how to make the white stripes transparent if possible. Right now the object is filled with a black and white pattern swatch that is rotated at the same angle. Either way I need to easily and quickly change the color of the black stripes by just changing the fill/stroke (And keep the white stripes white or transparent).

Eric,

How about this?

1) ClickDrag the swatch out to the Artboard;

2) Direct Select a bit with each colour to change, then Select>Same>Fill Color to have them all selected, then change;

3) In the Swatch palette flyout click New Swatch and name it.

You can change the black via Edit > Edit color > Recolor art

But to make the white transparent you need to edit the swatch and it is necessary to know how exactly the stripes have been built. It might be sufficient to just set the white stroke color to none. But it might be possible that you need to do some more.

    I'm using CC, the 2014 release. The stripes were built using two rectangles colored black and white then dragging them to the swatches panel to create a pattern swatch.
