I have a Wacom Intuos pro paper tablet and I sketched this rounded corner square on the left and imported the SVG to illustrator. I want to know whether there is an easy way for me to convert slightly rough lines into evenly straight lines without having to arduously rework the image or trace the entire imported image on new layers. (The image reference used is just a rudimentry example to try and explain what I am referring to.)

Kronoteko,
From the description an easy solution sounds unlikely, but a screenshot would help helpers help you, especially if inserted using the Insert Photos button at the top of the Reply box.

Slightly less rough lines: yes. By using Simplify.
Evenly straight lines: probably not.

What's wrong with using the rounded corner rectangle tool?

That's an example.
If I traced a technical line drawing with my wacom intuos pro tablet, the result when imported to illustrator would have uneven rough looking lines as shown in the image on the left. I thought there might be a way to import a rough line drawing and convert it to a line drawing that looks perfect like the square on the right. But apparently there isn't.

Is it actually a stroke, or is it really a fill?

See the 'rudimentary example' comment.

I believe you may have to provide a sample Illustrator file with more objects, so one can check what possible ways there may be to refine them.
