You are right Monika, I left this best option as the best and more versatile option, but had to close my PC and leve home in a rush.

This a very recent and interesting feature of inDesign.

I am assuming you are working on an InDesign document and have a collaborator that only uses illustrator, has no access to InDesign or InCopy.

If the final file will be output from InDesign, you have to find a way to include any edit or change from him in your ID file.

As these both applications are not interchangeable, you may use an Exported PDf to be edited in Ai or in Acrobat, thouigh you have to manually apply those edits back in ID, you may use other exported formats to be used on Ai or other applications.

You can also export text (plain or Word formated) from Id and open it in Ai.

And as Ton suggest you can create a CC Library item shared with your collaborator that he can edit directly and then you use it after edited and saved, back in inDesign. That is the most practical way of doing it.

Very ashamed, We rarely use CC Library in China ..... Are there any other solutions regarding the design of editing ID in AI

No way to edit InDesign files in Illustrator or any other software but InDesign itself.

Text contents can be also edited in InCopy.

You can use Illustrator to add text corrections, editing or comments. But those texts will need to be copied and pasted back in InDesign. this could be quite similar to using PDF comments in acrobat. You can use CC Libraries for a flexible and easy way of sharing and interchange text and other assets. You may ask what happens if the ID file is saved as PDF? Well the text for Ai are Objects that have to reinterpret. That means, tracking and kerning get lost, paragraphs are split into single lines of point text, even some words get converted to outlines. Hardly functional not worth the time to mend it, edit text and copy and paste back into ID. Please see the capture of a PDF from ID open in Ai. need I say more?

You cannot edit InDesign files in Illustrator, but you can share a CC library with text added from InDesign and edited in Illustrator.

Better to share the InDesign file.
