Illustrator Crashes When Copying - Illustrator 29.6.1 / Win 11

I’m experiencing an issue with Adobe Illustrator where I cannot copy anything. Both Ctrl+C and right-click > Copy cause the software to crash immediately. This has been happening repeatedly throughout the day.

Could you please advise on the cause and any possible solution? It’s really frustrating that Illustrator can’t handle such a basic function like copying without crashing.

Hola! gracias por responder tan pronto, he estado probando estos días y sigue igual, tengo la última versión de AI 29.7.1, actualizado hoy. De windows 11 enterprice - versión 23H2 // 22631.5624.

También he restablecido las preferencias de Ai, he borrado todo, he vuelto a instalar y nada de nada.

Y si, se bloquea durante la acción ctrl+ C o ctrl+x, es todo lo que influye en el portapapeles o así.

We have received reports from several customers that the latest Windows Defender security intelligence update - 1.435.148.0 has potentially fixed this issue.
Could you try installing the update and letting us know if it helps?

Troubleshooted with IT and the only thing that worked for me was doing a full shutdown by holding the Shift key (windows) while shutting down. It no longer freezes.

This is not a solved issue.

Adobe Illustrator crashes every time a Control+C copy is attempted.

Issue persists.

Windows Defender seems to have no effect on whether Adove crashes or not.
And if the software is crashing on the regular, what am I paying a subscription for?

The 1.435.148 Defender Antivirus update has resolved the issue for me.

What hasn't been resolved:

Why was this an issue in the first place? No other Adobe flagship products had the issue. What is it that Illustrator passes to the clipboard that Defender didn't like?
Will there be a change to Illulstrator to prevent this from happening again?
Two weeks with minimal communication to the user community is unacceptable. In future could we please be given a daily update so that we can advise our clients of delays?
Many users like me spent a significant number of hours trying to resolve, test and workaround the issue, losing a lot of time and delaying deliverables for our clients...

My company updated 1.435.148 Defender Antivirus, but still not working. AI still crash. I can't do my work. Waste so much of my time updated and try other AI version.

I updated my PC this morning and it seemed to work for a little while. It's now crashing again every time I try to copy anything.

I should also add that I noticed if I open a new document, I can copy and paste just fine. Once the file is saved, however, it crashes when I try to copy.

I'm not sure what happened, but the issue is fixed. There had been an update but it was from 8/8 when I was still having the issue. My main work around was saving my files as Cloud Documents where the issue never showed its face.

Mine and the rest of the team can confirm it all seems to be working again now. Here's hoping this doesn't happen again.... it will take a long time to fully trust it after this debacle!

Thankfully the update from Microsoft fixed this issue and we all hope they won't break it again.

This is my work-around without any crashes today:

Saving file as an .eps
instead of copy/paste, I drag item to a Library, then alt+drag it where I want it
I manually type the text that I need.

I have to wait for our IT to approve and send an update to my computer like Anubhav suggested. His post is pinned to the top of this Discussion board.
