Illustrator error

Each time I tried to open Illustrator I got an error message (the operation cannot complete due to an unknown error [PARM]. I tried to download the latest version of Illustrator, and now when I try to open the app I get only a black screen. Any guidance will be helpful so I can use my illustrator app. I am workiing on an Macbook Pro, Intel Core i9, running Big Sur 11.6.1. Thank you.

The latest. All is working now, after a major crash ... but I'm all set thanks for taking time to ask etc.
