Is there a way so that when you look down the list of fonts the actual name of the font is in the style of the font rather than having 'sample' next to it in the font and all the names in the same font.
How many times can you say font in one sentence!
Thanks!

Sorry there is not.
In font book or typekit and most any font utility you can change the type specimen words to be what you want. myfonts.com is the closet to what you are asking for.

Iv been using an older version of illustrator and this has the font name in the font style, is there now way to revert back to this in the newer version of illustrator?
Im so used to recognising fonts this way, its difficult to find what I need now they are not showing up how I am used to seeing them!
I know I can view the font name in the style of the font in font book but Im to lazy to keep swapping back and fourth between programs!

Yes very disappointing the Illustrator updates are, they change things that do not need to be changed and outstanding important issues people are asking for since CS6 and before are still not addressed.
Best I know you can turn off font previews to get rid of the word samples, but then you do not see any type in the font.
Maybe someone else may have an idea as Megan would like to see type menus as there were in CS6, where the font is stylized in the typeface, and not the word sample.

One of the reasons that it one word is used over and over is so that you can easily see the differences between the same letters in varying font styles. That's why font families are often shown like this:
With real estate being a premium the word 'Sample' shows several distinct letters. Hope this helps!
