Firstly with every illustrator update the software becomes less usable.
Mac Specs bellow.
For some reason it KEEPS choosing the intel card and illustrator is drawing like its 1998. Under the energy settings in graphics switching is off. There is no logical reason for it to be slow. This is slowing down workflow and I keep having to rollback illustrator version to 2018 almost.
Since illustrator does not allow for us to manually change settings and alter options. Will there be an ACTUAL update that sorts all these bugs that are essentially issues from a bygone era.

This solution is for Photoshop, but it will help here too:

Hi @PP1979,
We are sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. In addition to @Kevin Stohlmeyer suggestion, I would recommend you to update to macOS 12.4, and if that doesn't work, reset Illustrator preferences.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings.
If that doesn't help either, you may try running the app in a new admin user account or root user account, as it is possible your current user profile has gotten corrupted.
Let us know if that helps!

System is updated to latest version. 12.4 Monterey. Sadly I think half the issues are right there by the consults from people in the industy. Graphics switching is off as I have a mac.
I have tried using Illustrator build, 26.3.1. Whats more strange, I use external monitor. the moment you touch the artboard illustrator becomes unusable. Illustrator build 25.0 also does not recognise the card but 25.0.1 does, however it has the artboard problem mentioned above.
How is this all possible?

What is the graphics card for the external monitor?

So I have had a session with an online agent.
The bottom line is this.
A toxic combination of an update to Monterey 12.4 + Adobe CC + external monitor seems to be the culprit.
If using native MacBook pro display Illustrator versions seem to use the artboards and general use is fine, although not as fast as Big Sur.
However the moment an external monitor is connected, artboard selection become really really shoppy and responsiveness is really slow.
Illustrator once the monitor is unplugged still remains broken, until I restart Illustrator.
It took a great deal of frustration to find exaclty what triggers the issues. Please see video proof of how bad this really is.
Also worth noting, these are BLANK artboards. With artboards full of artwork it is completely broken.

EDIT.
This rings true for lots of the Adobe CC aplications, AE, ID etc. Perhaps not to the same extent as illustrator but all my apps have been severly affected in performance.

Hi @PP1979,
Thanks for sharing the details and letting us know that. Would you mind trying a clean installation of the whole Creative Cloud? If yes, here are the steps to clean install Adobe Creative Cloud & its apps
Try clean installation of the whole Creative Cloud app. Here are the steps to clean install Adobe Creative Cloud & its apps:
Note: By doing this, all the preferences, files, third-party plugins, and any older versions (Like CS5, CS6, Illustrator 2020, or any other app such as Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge, etc. will be removed).
Let us know if it helps. I will be looking forward to your response.

Hi @Anshul_Saini ,
I honestly dont have the capacity or the time to do all that. I have had reports from many other people with the same issue. This is not a preference file, creative cloud installation issue. This to me is a compatibility with the latest OS and Adobe. I had NONE of these issues when I was on Big Sur.

Hi @PP1979,
I understand it is not feasible for you, and I do really get it is reported by many. However, the reason I suggested clean installation is because, over time, many layers of app updates and OS updates get written, which may corrupt the user profile and which is why it may be acting this way. Also, I have 3 Mac, and all of them have been upgraded to macOS Monterey from Big Sur and don't have this issue. This is very unusual behavior, that's why I suggested it.
Alternatively, you can try creating a new user admin account (https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mtusr001/mac) or can try running the app in the root account as I suggested previously.
If you like, you can connect with our technical support team (https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen) and show them this post & then ask them to perform these steps on your behalf, which they will be able to perform faster.
