Illustrator Preventing Sleep on Mac

I'm running a Mac Mini with an M2 chip on Sonoma 14.6.1. Within the past few weeks, my Mac has stopped sleeping on it's own. I can make it sleep manually, but it wakes back up on it's own. If I simply walk away from my desk without doing anything, it never sleeps.
 
I saw previous threads about turning off all automatic syncing, updates, not allowing CC to start on start-up and have done all of that. In Illustrator, I don't save to the cloud and have the option to do so automatically unchecked.
 
When I look at the Activity Monitor, it shows Illustrator as the only App name with "Preventing Sleep" marked Yes. Opening the toggle for this item shows it's the CEPHtmlEngine item.
 
Does anyone have any new ideas for fixing this? Being that this has been an open issues in other threads for over 2 years, I'm not getting my hopes up. If I can't get this figured out it's honestly going to be the final straw of moving to Affinity. I'm tired of paying this much money for software that crashes all the time and prevents my computer from operating properly, all while insisting it babysit me constantly.

    I fixed it by going to preferences and disabling the "automatic cloud file saving" option.

    I had the same issue and am working on a 2021 M1 Mac with Sonoma OS 14.6. I also found that this issue gets resolved if you're in Illustrator and change the File Handling settings in the preferences window. I increased the "Automatically Save Recovery Data Every:" section to every 15 minutes and similarly increased "Automatically Save Cloud Documents Every:" to 5 minutes.

     

    Double-checking both your "Battery" section if working on a MacBook and the "Lock Screen" section may be necessary to ensure those numbers are appropriate for when you want the computer to sleep. Both of these sections are located in your system settings app. Hope that helps anyone in need!

      This solved the issue for me:

      I have been having this issue on my MacBook pro 2019 16" for the last couple of months. On my activity monitor it said that it was Adobe Illustrator and Spotify which were preventing my Mac from sleeping. I uninstalled both of those apps, making sure to clear the caches first. Then I reset SMC on my mac and then turned my mac back on and reinstalled those apps. Now my activity monitor is saying they are no longer preventing sleep. AND MY MAC GOES TO SLEEP 😄 even with both apps open!

      This might be temporary solution only. Root of the problem is CEPHtmlEngine process which is used to sync online Library panel. 

      There are few solutions:

      • Kill the CEPHtmlEngine process in Activity monitor
      • If you don't use Library panel you can disable it Preferences > Plugins, disallow plugins to use internet and restart Photoshop. You can also disable loading of extensions panels.
      • Make new Workspace without Library panel and save it.

       

      It should do the trick. Culprit of the problem is in fact the Library panel which is legacy extension.

        I had the same problem. I found that going to AI settings and unchecking 

        (Automatically Save Recovery Data Every) solved the issue. Hope that helps you as well.

            Remember to save regularly. That is something you need to do anyway.

            Also: Do not just save, but save different versions of a file. Because if there is a power outage while you are saving, you are still in trouble.

              This appears to be a Mac Mini issue. These two thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254936255?sortBy=rank and https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254541465?sortBy=rank point out that later Macs do not benefit from being put into sleep mode. According to these threads trying to solve the sleep problem such as you're having isn't worth the effort.

              No, it's not just Mac mini issue. I have same problem with 2019 Intel iMac. iMac display is constantly on while running Illustrator.

                I still have an Intel Mac mini. Sleep is not an issue at all with Illustrator running on it. But I do not have Sonoma on it.
