Illustrator saving blank PNGs (not saving or exporting anything) while working on a file

Hi the title is a little odd, but the gist of it is. My Ai keeps saving small blank png files whenever I am working on an open file. I just delete them usually but sometimes it is a couple of thousand PNGs saved out,

 

How do I stop this happening?

Sorry about the trouble you are facing. I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • The exact version of Illustrator
  • Could you please share a sample Ai document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.
  • Are you using any scripts, plugins, or automated actions?
  • Does resetting Illustrator Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) help to resolve the issue?
    Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

 

Also, you may try opening the app in Safe Mode & Hidden Admin Account. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you for getting back to me. I have just reset my preferences and will let you know how it goes.

 

The version is V.25.4.1

It started happening recently. I had just updated but I am not certain whether it started before that. I don't believe it did though. One thign I do change everytime I update is change the export as shortcut to ctrl-alt-E, I don't know if that will help.
