Illustrator text glitch?

Community Beginner ,
Sep 14, 2018 Sep 14, 2018

A little hard to describe, but here's what's happening:

  • I create two lines of text on the screen, created as point type (as opposed to text boxes).
  • I set the characteristics for one – font, size, tracking, etc.
  • When I select the second line of text, the characteristics of the first one continue to show in the toolboxes.
  • Sometimes I can't make changes to the second line at all – change values in the toolboxes, nothing happens. And sometimes when I try, the changes show up on the first (unselected) line!

It doesn't happen every time, and I can't figure out what the pattern is, if any.

I bought a new Macbook Pro a month ago, but this issue began today.

Help?

I've tried:

  • turning off GPU acceleration
  • recreated the file
  • tried different fonts
  • upgraded Suitcase Fusion (font handler)
  • searched these forums – nothing.

I can't reproduce this issue. Try resetting preferences. If that doesn't work, you may need to uninstall/reinstall.

So far so good means "it's working now, but I don't necessarily have confidence that it will continue to work". As I noted in the OP, it was happening randomly. Will need more time to be sure that it's working correctly and dependably.
