Illustrator won't open files or new documents on Windows 10

Hello, 

The program won't let me open files or new documents. 

I've tried several things like changing the preferences, renaming the folders, re-installing Creative Cloud and Illustrator but nothing works.

Hi Ornella,

 

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

 

  1. The exact version of Illustrator.
  2. Do you have a Printer setup correctly? If not, please set Adobe PDF as the default printer.
  3. Where are the files saved which you are trying to open, locally or on any network or shared drive?
  4. You can also try resetting the preferences manually by following the steps below:

 

  • Close all Adobe applications. 
  • Go to Location C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe 
  • Rename  Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings.old 
  • Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud. 

 

Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and Illustrator will recreate new folders with default settings.

Hi Rishabh,

Here are some details: 

1. Illustrator (24.0.2).

2. Adobe PDF it's set as the default printer.

3. Locally but also nothing happens when I tried to open a new document.

4. I followed all the steps but the problem remains.
