Image Trace Panel Greyed Out

Hi there. I used Image Trace on a project and everything seemed fine, but then when I opened the Image Trace Panel all the options were greyed out. All I wanted to do was remove the white background from the image. Does anyone know why this might have happened? Thanks so much!

Sure, here's a screenshot of the layers panel. I hope this is what you mean (sorry, I'm very much a beginner with Illustrator)

It looks like you have already expanded your object fully and have vector. It would have been easier to have used the option on the advanced menu to ignore the white, but since the image is expanded, you will have to select the white objects and delete them manually. You can use the magic wand to do this, but the results might not be what you expect. I would try it, but if you are not happy, it might be easier to start fresh and use the advanced options BEFORE you expand and set it to ignore the white.

The thing that comes to mind immediately is that the image is no longer selected. Usually options are not available for any tool when an object isn't selected. If that isn't the case, can you give us more info or perhaps a screenshot of what is going on, including the layers panel and the artboard.

Hi there, thanks for your response. The object is selected. I also saw someone talking about a Clipping Mask being a potential problem too, but there is no Clipping Mask applied.

I've attached 3 screenshots:

The control panel says that there are "Mixed objects" selected. Can you please open that layer in the layers panel?
