Merci.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Why do you need to use image trace? The object is already a vector shape.

It is already a shape.

If you mean you want it filled rather than stroked, open the appearance panel and remove the stroke and apply a fill.

Or click the icon to swap stroke and fill at the bottom of the toolbar:

Use Object > Path > Outline Stroke:

My apologies -- the forum translation led me to believe you were doing something else.

Can you share your file? If not, show the appearance panel for the object.

Can you copy that object into a blank file and share that?

The forum can't be used to share AI files. You can either save as PDF and try again, or use an external file sharing service.

I have no issue outlining the stroke, but I am using a different version of AI (28.3).

Can you select the object and show its context in the layers panel in your original file?

This is a compound path. Is it originally part of a bigger compound path? And you didn't select all of it?

I should have looked at your translation sheet.

But I still can't make part of a compound path not respond to Outline Stroke.

All is selected.
I think it's a bug of my Illustrator version (the last available - 28.7.4), because I didn't have this problem a few weeks ago (I don't use this option in illustrator every day).

If Outline stroke does not work, can you just use Object > Expand?
