No inicia Illustrator

Hola! Tengo un problema con Adobe Illustrator. 
Descargue el programa por primera vez ya que estoy realizando un curso que lo necesita. Al iniciarlo en mi Mac me queda la pantalla completamente en negro. Esto no me pasa con Photoshop. No se que hacer porque necesito entregar unos trabajos la semana que viene.
Adjunto imagen de pantalla y de mi sistema operativo.

In addition to that: 8 GB of RAM is not a lot.

Thank U @Monika Gause ! I tried but it didn't work. I don't have a clue about what's going on with this. I've downloaded Illustrator and Photoshop at the same time and Ps works fine.
