Properties panel missing

Participant ,
Nov 21, 2017 Nov 21, 2017

I'm using version 2007 21.0.0.

There is no 'Properties panel' it doesn't show up if I reset the workspace 'Essentials' nor does it appear in the Window drop downlist.

I can't update myself as it is all controlled by corporate IT.

Is there a way to solve this other than updating?

Thanks for your help.

In different parts of the application: the preferences dialog box, several panels, the tools options and the control panel.

No, I wanted to start with Illustrator. I already had Acrobat DC, but it

updated after I installed CC.

I'm not sure what you mean by other versions--I think the list I posted

from the cleaner shows everything I might have, doesn't it?

Here's what I have installed according to Windows Control Panel.

With other version I mean different versions of Illustrator. I have 7 versions installed at the moment.

In your place I would probably try option 4, it's the least intrusive one and doesn't kill too many versions. If you don't have other versions installed, then all the better.

But since you're so unsure about it: why not contact Customer Care via the chat?

Thanks,

I did try reinstalling illustrator (didn't do anything with that

cleaner--just unsure about it). Still no properties panel with the

reinstall.

Apparently, I cannot use support because I'm an "Enterprise ID" user. I got

CC through my university.

Hi Lyngnos,

Please double check that your system meets minimum requirements (with Windows 7, you'll need to make sure Service Pack 1 is installed.) Adobe Illustrator system requirements

If the Properties panel isn't appearing in the 'Essentials' workspace, it's likely that the system you're working on doesn't have the correct specs. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Can you provide a screenshot of what the workspace currently looks like for you?

Thanks for alerting me, Monika Gause

Best,

Wren

Thanks Wren, but I do have SP 1 installed (see below). So that's not it.

Could it have something to do with my institution using the Enterprise ID

setup (installation, login; not sure if I'm saying that correctly).

I've got everything else required, including 700+ GB of space on my hard

drive.

It really seems as if I have an older version of Illustrator, despite the

version named in the Adobe info panel.

I had no other versions of Illustrator and when I installed this one a few

weeks ago, I installed CC for the first time too. The only Adobe products

were Acrobat and Flash, I think.

I would really like that properties panel, I know some longtime users have

complained about it, but as a previous Autocad user, I really appreciate

having a consolidated place for tools. I'm finding the Layout workspace is

the easiest for me to use, but it's still a pain to find some of the tools

I need.

Additionally, all the latest tutorials show that panel, so I have to search

around for the tools I need. I'm still learning Illustrator, so there's a

curve anyway.

Thanks for your help.

Lynn

the answer is {drumroll please} on some installs its not a widow its part of the upper toolbar. Just above the document tabs.

Hiding in plain sight. everything thats in the properties window is right there. when I started the tutorials it stupid my bad. If you study the screen of the tutorial you will notice that you have a extra menu bar just above the stage its your properties

The answer is that the properties panel has been introduced in version 22.

The control panel is something else.

Although the Properties Window is now a bar at the top, it does not work the same as in the tutorial.  I actually have one version of the InDesign I was working on (2019) and downloaded the files for the tutorial.  When I opened those files it opened up in a 2018 version of InDesign.  I can drop down the "Window" menu from the 2019 version and find the Properties option, but it's not an option in the 2018 version (see images).  Maybe the tutorials need to be updated?

The Properties panel is the vertical panel. It has been introduced only recently.

The horizontal one at the top is the control panel. It dates from version CS2

Two different things.

Tutorials usually don't mention the version. So you have to figure it out yourself.

Did you try to: Window menu > Workspace > Reset the workspace?
