Question

"Cannot save to this filename. Please save the document with a different name..."

I frequently get an error message when saving a file I'm working on in Illustrator: "Cannot save to this filename. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder." I'm saving within a folder in my synced Creative Cloud folder.

Windows 10

Adobe Illustrator CC (22.1 64-bit)

Application Folder:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2018\Support Files\

Primary Scratch Folder:

C:\Users\#MyName#\AppData\Local\Temp\

Secondary Scratch Folder:

This seems not to happen if I turn off syncing in the CC app, though this may be coincidence.
I can also successfully save sometimes just by waiting.
I can also successfully save sometimes if I use "Save As" and use the same file name--I get the options box, the overwrite warning, and then it saves. This also might be about time passing and the sync catching up?
Anyway, should I be saving as I go in some other way? Am I missing some Creative Cloud best practice? !

I get this too - and saving to my HDD, not to the creative cloud folder.

I'm saving into a folder synced on Google Drive, if that has any impact perhaps.

Then please try and save to a folder that is not watched or synchronized. Does that work?

Hi there,

We are very sorry for this inconvenience. The folder in the creative cloud, where you are saving the file, is it in a shared folder?

Regards,
