Question

Rotation tool on Illustrator

I have a few different images in Illustrator that I'm arranging. I can on some of them rotate them by moving my mouse back from the corner and the rotate symbol comes up but on some of my images nothing happens and I cannot rotate. My bounding boxes are all turned on I'm really not sure what's happening.

They're all the same file type: TIF.

Thank you

Call me "old school", but I like the old "Rotate" tool:

  1. Make selection.
  2. Hit "r"
  3. Choose from 3 options:
    1. Move cursor away from selection and click & rotate.
    2. Click once to set center of rotation then move cursor away from new center and drag to rotate.
    3. Option/Alt+Click and enter degree of rotation.

  • Make sure you are using the solid arrow tool or free transform tool
  • Object >> transform >> Reset Bounding Box

If that don't work

  • quit and restart your computer (there fixes a problem with the bounding box corrupted in the wrong place, so may help

Good luck, If that does not work, and you are able to post a copy using dropbox or similar, we can  look at you file and let you knwo if this is an issue with the file or your system. You will need to embed the images, and if this is private work you can delete other items  not related to the issue.
