Question

Save window not showing up in all the versions if Illustrator on macOS Mojave

Hello. It's been a couple of days that Illustrator (last version, but have tried going back till 22.1) stopped showing up "save" and "print" window. Which is a big deal, because I've been forced to not use Ai for work.

Now, I've found this but seems not being anymore working with the actual release, since Adobe changed directory.

How I should solve this? I am on the last rls of macOS and using a 2018 Macbook Pro.

Thanks. 🍪

Hello @Shreyansh387120405glg,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying the following steps and checking if they help:

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from the following location:

(Windows) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP

(macOS) Navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP

- Relaunch Illustrator

If the problem persists, kindly Would you mind trying the following steps and share your observations:

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

"I am having the same issue - with a NEW file - I can not even save it."

Which system is it?

Where are you trying to save the file?

Try trashing preferences. Hopefully, when the program is returned to defaults the problem will be gone.

To do so on a Mac:

The User Library folder in which Illustrator’s preferences are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that Illustrator is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N).With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called “Adobe Illustrator <Version #> Settings” (earlier versions of Illustrator might just say “Adobe Illustrator”) and the file called “com.adobe.Illustrator.plist” and delete both that folder and that file. When Illustrator is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.

The advantage of manually deleting preference files in this manner is that after you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

Did you try the solutions given there?

Resetting prefs, turn off/update fontmanagement?

So you moved to Catalina? Could it be that the Save and Print stopped showing when you updated?

I'm still on Mojave (10.14.6).
