Me and my team are all experiencing this same issue. Happened to all of us after a recent update. Anyone else?

@DavidRulz have you had any progress on the sticky? Mine hs gotten worse lately, and now the zoom tool gets stuck as well.

Nope. No fixes on our end.
We don't have any of the plugins (or any similar plugins) that others are deactivating to fix their issue. Very frustrating.
Certainly odd that the issue seems to be isolated to Adobe products.

@DavidRulz have you tried in safe mode yet?

Yes, it works correctly in Safe Mode. I've opened every app I use while in Safe Mode and the Illustrator issue still doesn't happen. That would lead me to think there is something I can't start up on my own, or something I can't see that is causing the issue.
Do you have the ability to create a new user on your computer and test to see if that test user has the issue also?

It's the same issue, moving slowly and lagging. The selection tool stalls and jumps objects. Making my work situation frustrating and costing me more time!

Do you have the Magnet app installed?

Hi @Anshul_Saini , I've got the same issue with Illustrator selection tool being "sticky" and by turning off the 3rd party security apps Proofpoint solved the problem. The issue did not happen with my old MacBook Pro and Proofpoint.
I'm on M2 MacBook Pro with Sonoma now.
Please request improvements for the next release.

@Anshul_Saini Has there been any progress on this? It continues to cause major productivity issues for Illustrator users.

@DavidRulz and @Anshul_Saini I am also still experiencing these problems, as well as everyone on my team. Is there any additional information?

I've experienced the same bug for many years. Slection stickts to one object, and it doesn't matter of you lock the layer with the stuck slected object, it still remains selected. You have to close the file and reopen it. I've had this issue through various machines over time. It's the one bug that never seems to be resolved.

I know what you're referring to, but that's different. The bug you're referring to has an object that remains selected even after it's been deselected (often only appearing to be selected due to a visible bounding box)
This issue causes the any new selection to stick to the cursor as if you're clicking and dragging, but the mouse button is actually no longer pressed, so you have to click again to drop it.

as a side note, I've noticed that cutting and undoing the troublesome object can work to correct that issue.

Hello @GaryDeAfrique,
I understand that you've been facing a persistent issue with the selection sticking to one object in Adobe Illustrator for many years. I appreciate your patience, and I'm here to assist.
To better address and resolve this issue, @DavidRulz @GaryDeAfrique could you provide more details and context about the problem? Additionally, if you have a screen recording or specific steps to reproduce the problem, that would be immensely helpful. Also, sharing information about your system, including CPU, GPU, RAM, and the operating system version, can assist in identifying any patterns related to the bug.
Once you provide more details, I'll be able to forward the information to the product team for further investigation. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I look forward to assisting you in resolving this longstanding issue.
Best,
Anshul Saini

Hello @Anshul_Saini and @cathyk22,
I have the same issue on my new computer (Macbook pro M3) with Illustrator 28, 27.9 and 27.8.1 (video attached)
It's almost impossible to work.

Is yours also a company computer with security software/plugins installed on it?

No I have no security software or plugin installed

That's exactly the same issue. Extremely frustrating as a daily Illustrator user.
That's interesting. I was figuring it was caused by a security plugin since it did not happen when starting the computer in Safe Mode, but that disables a lot of things, including any custom installed fonts. Clearly that's not the case. I hope that @Anshul_Saini finds this to be extra useful.
If you use InDesign as well, have you noticed a similar issue where clicking on things after having moved the cursor will cause the selected item to move a few pixels?

I have exactly the same issue on Indesign. Few pixels each time I select an object. It's good to hear I'm not the only one. It made me crazy!

Hello @Sofi56,
Sorry for the delayed response. I understand that you're experiencing issues with Illustrator on your MacBook Pro M3. To further investigate and resolve the problem, let's try a few steps:
Safe Mode Test: As suggested by @DavidRulz, please try running Illustrator in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. This helps determine if any third-party applications or processes are causing conflicts. To start in Safe Mode, restart your Mac, and immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
Application List: Share a list of applications installed on your Mac. You can take screenshots of the Applications folder or provide a list of applications.
Specific Scenarios: If the issue occurs in specific scenarios or actions, please provide more details. For example, does it happen with a particular tool or function?
InDesign & PS Comparison: If you use Adobe InDesign & PS as well, check if you encounter similar issues there, especially related to clicking and moving objects.
By gathering this information, we can narrow down the possible causes and work towards a solution. Feel free to share your observations and details. If the issue persists after trying Safe Mode, we'll explore further steps.
Thank you!
Anshul Saini

I'll share here that this happens in InDesign as well, in a slightly different way. It behaves as if you're holding down the mouse button for a split second after you've clicked on an object. Except, it'll even happen a moment after the cursor has stopped moving. This results in the object getting nudged a couple pixels anytime you select a new object (unless you wait briefly before clicking).
I haven't used PS much lately, but haven't noticed anything similar. For whatever reason, these odd mouse/clicking issues are only happening in Adobe programs.
There isn't a specific tool, rather the action of selecting an object, so Command+Clicking with a different tool active will still cause the strange bug.
Here is my application list.

In order to find out which app causes an issue:
divide them in halves.
Activate one half. Check if the issue happens. If it doesn't, none of the affected apps causes it.
Acticate the other half. Check if the issue happens. Then divide in halves again. And so on.

YES! I thought it was me. Selection tools have some serious 'move' issues.
