Hello.
I've been experiencing an issue in the latest release of Adobe Illustrator (29.8.1). After creating artwork in the centre of the canvas and inlcuding text boxes I've encountered an error where the text moves outside of the box diagonally and moves the other objects with it. If I click on the text the text box is selected, but in its original position. It's only after resizing the text box that the text itself reverts back to appearing in the box. This has been an issue before, in earlier version, but this is now moving non-text objects away from their original position. I've had to correct two artworks that have had this error already. The only trigger I can think of is when the artwork is saved under a new filename after being created - for a duplicate file as an example. Please see the screenshots below for further context.

Hello everyone,
The product team has asked for more details. Can you check if this happens with specific files, and if yes, share a link to a sample file after uploading it to a file-sharing service, so we can check it on our end?
Note: When sharing the file, kindly make the link public and enable the option to Save a Copy/Download (if any).
Looking forward to hearing from you.

That could explain the corrupted file. It is not advised to save directly into a cloud synced folder. Always better to saved first to the local hard disk and when saved and closed, copy the file to the synched folder.

Ah OK, I can try this next time I start an Illustrator project, see if it helps. Thanks

Oh really? I thought it was just me. Are you saving to a Cloud-based platform too?

Yes, in my dropbox folder. But I was working like this foe years and never had any issue with it.. weird that it's suddenly a problem.

I had the same problem this morning when I opened a file from yesterday and was shocked that everything was shifted off. So I thought mayne the file is corrupt, so I copied everything into a new file – saved – closed AI – opened the file again – same problem.
After seeing your post, I just tried to NOT save directly into the Dropbox Folder, but it shifts again. It's driving me crazy, it doesn't have to do with the file being saved into the cloud. I guess it's an AI problem, and i gotta finish my work..

Exactly the same as me - I've been using Illustrator for 20-odd years and never had this issue until last week. I also tried copying everything into a new file twice and same thing happened again. Two of my colleagues tried opening the file and same thing happened with them.
I spent hours trying to figure it out, opening one layer at a time (background colours, then copy, then icons), saved, closed and opened each time. I tried converting fonts to paths. Nothing seemed to solve the issue. I gave up and am now avoiding AI and using Figma instead.

Estou com o mesmo problema, versão 29.8.1
Depois de salvar e abrir novamente o arquivo, vêm tudo bagunçado, até objetos que estão em layers locados com cadeado se moveram e itens sumiram da artboard.

I'm not sure, but I think I narrowed to down to either "use compression" in the save dialog, or the automatic saving every x amount of time. Also, when you save, you can already observe the preview images in Finder (Mac). If everything shifts arounds, you can see it there. Anyway, after experimenting with the above, I was able to work on the file, save it, open it without issues. Nor sure if it's just luck or not. Not a great solution either.

Just found out — what really helped was to save the file in the Adobe Cloud instead of the Hard Drive...

Myself and another colleague have had this problem since yesterday as well - we have pdf versions of documents we can refer back to but it's not ideal. Let's hope for a fix soon.

I have been having the same problem all week, its ok with old files but anything new I create with multiple artboards when I close and reopen some but not all arwork has shifted down and left, some ends up on top of the artwork that hasnt shifted. If you space bar the file and preview it it looks fine, its only when you open does it all move. Please help!

I also had the same problem, I just had to re-do the file because I was in such a hurry. I thought it had to do with the fact that I used a lot of repeat objects to create patterns, but after seeing the other postings, I'm discarding this thought. Also, some of the texts frames looked like they were doubled, with an invisible pair of the same size. I use dropbox, but by chance this file was saved in the downloads folder, so it wasn't a cloud problem in my case.

Saving the file in Adobe Cloud prevents the bug for me. May be a workaround until it gets fixed.

Hi!
Did anybody find a solution yet? I have the same problem and I have never experienced it in the last 20 years+.
I kept redoing the files in many different ways but still, the problem occurs.
Thank you.

Hi, I just experienced this same issue. Created an Illustrator project yesterday with numerous artboards with a variety of graphic designs, nothing comlex and opened the same file today and its a complete mess. Its as if someone ransacked the project over night. I then spent another hour tidying the project up, closed the file and reopened it and its a complete mess again!!
Really frustrating bug whatever it is? Any help or known fixes what be extremely welcome.
