We are having issues with the new update to the new Illustrator 27.7. Text, when outlined, dissapear. This is extremely dangerous because we outline files which are allready approved. It happens most often with textes on a curve. We had this issue ones before with an update in 2021.
Does anyone have the same problem and how can it be solved?
Hi @Jos2198932062a4 @toms55080441,
I'm glad to inform you that the product team has addressed this issue in the latest Beta (27.9) / Prerelease build 27.8.0.261. Would you both mind installing this version from the CCD and let us know if it fixes the problem at your end?
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Best Regards,
Anshul Saini

That sounds indeed dangerous, I would conntact Adobe support:

It's path text?
Anything else special about it? Is it a list?
Does that also happen when you outline it using "Flatten transparency"?
Did you already reboot the computer and reset the preferences?

Thank you for your reply. This has nothing to do with transparancy flattening.

If it’s a type on path — then it’s a known problem which the team is going to fix: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/46897540-charact...
If not — report a separate bug report with exact step to reproduce it, please.

Thank you. Looks like this. We wait in reply of Adobe.

Are you expanding the text on path effect when converting the live text to outlines?
BTW, if you are using any variable fonts make sure to look at the lettering in outline view and weld over any overlaps.

I am also having the same issue when trying to outline text on a curve, such as in a circle design.
A work around I have found is to "Object" > "Expand" and then the text remains there...
Just doing an outline on text on a curve makes it dissappear...
Hopefully they fix this bug soon!

glad to hear it.
😀
FYI That thread:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/text-on-path-curve-bug/td-p/13966304
seems to be related with the same problem. (Text on the path, written and saved in older versions, "disappears" after opening in 27.7 )

Hello, I'm still experiencing this issue on Illustrator 28.7.1 and 27.9.6 and have downgraded to Illustrator 27.6.1 to avoid it. I'm experiencing it on all Illustrators after 27.6.1 on both Monterey and Sonoma. My company is holding back on lots of needed upgrades to remain compatible with 27.6.1. When I open old files, or files saved in post-27.6.1 Illustrators the type on a path is not there. On 27.6.1 and earlier it is. We're a print shop running a lot of old files again, so this is devastating and has already cost us thousands of dollars in printing we've had to throw away.
I just retested the attached file. It looks good in 27.6.1 with two type on a paths, (Arial Bold Italic and Arial Bold). The Arial Bold Italic appears in 28.7.1, but the Arial Bold type on a path does not.

Hello @Arthur28538196e7wa,
I am sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing a public link to a sample file after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc. and a screen recording of the problem, so we can check it on our end?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,

Hi,
We are still having this problem even though we've implemented the update - it's a nightmare, please can this be reviewed.

Does it work when you use Object > Flatten transparency for outlining text.
Also: after the update it might be necessary to reset the preferences - did you do that?

Hello @classroomc27291169,
I'm sorry to hear that you're still experiencing this problem. To ensure you have the latest updates and bug fixes, please confirm that you are using Adobe Illustrator version 27.8.1. If you are not, I recommend updating to this version, as it might contain a fix for the issue you're facing.
If the problem persists after updating, you can try resetting Illustrator preferences, as suggested by Monika Gause.
If the issue still persists after updating and resetting preferences, it would be helpful to gather more information to assist in troubleshooting. Would you mind providing the following:
The more information you can provide, the better we can investigate and assist you with resolving the problem. Thank you for your cooperation, and we're here to help you get this sorted out.
Best,

And this problem reocurred in the latest update 28.2.!!!!!
It seems to be a problem that is fixed during a period en then with an update reintroduced. Very, very dangerous as stated above and very annoying. The Beta version is no solution. The problem is the same there. Text is disapearing during working in the file also now. clicking on the path makes is visable again.
Please help and fix this issue for good!
Jos.

Hello @Jos2198932062a4,
We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind checking if Illustrator behaves this way with all files? If yes, kindly try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) to check if it helps.
If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS, details about your workflow, a sample file (https://adobe.ly/3uqRy5j), and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3uC249Q), so we can investigate this further.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Anubhav

Same problem here with the latest version 28.4.1. Running it on a Mac Studio with OS 14.4.1. We are a fast paced label shop and rely on Illustrator for litterally every job that we produce. This bug is causing problems with jobs not being correct in proofing and print. Please fix before we lose a client or have to rerun another job.

Hi there (@Bempster),
Apologies for the inconvenience. Could you provide further information about the machine? If you need help in sharing system details, you can follow the steps shared here.
Additionally, could you confirm whether this issue pertains to a specific file? If so, please specify the version in which the file was originally created.
Thanks,

Hi,
The problem is not isolated to one file, but it is always type on a curved path. I can't really provide the file creation information as they are provided by our clients. The supplied files can be either native .ai or .pdf, but I can't tell you if the issue is isolated to one or the other. I do know it can occur when the files I receive are pdfs.
The machine is a Mac Studio
Chip - M2 Max
Memory - 96GB
OS - Senoma 14.4.1
Illustrator 28.4.1
Thank You
Todd

Thanks for sharing the details. Please also check and confirm if the same issue happens with new files. If not, we might need a sample file to replicate the issue. If it is fine with you may share it via DM.
Regards!
