I am new in illustrator. Following correctly the tutorials, nevertheless tracing does not work.

RAM should not be an issue, unless the image is very large. Can you please show that image and tell us about it: how large is it? WHich color mode? Which file format?

Also: when was the last time you rebooted that computer?

Search the forum, this seems to be a regularly occurring issue, some may have a fix / workaround...
