Please someone explain the function of the Page Isolated Blending command in the Transparency panel menu.

You will not see it in Illustrator. It's there for the layout. When you place an AI/PDF file in InDesign, then the blendmodes interact with whatever is on your page. If you do not want that, then turn isolated page blending on. https://youtu.be/qmPfwq9H-jA
