Type on Path (Text is aligned to the middle of the path)

The natural alignment of the text is set to have the bottom of the text sit to the bottom of the path when you use the 'Type on Path'. (Pictured Left).

I am wanting to find an easy way to'Type on Path' so that the text is aligned on the path in its centre. (Pictured Right).

Does anyone have any idea on how I could achieve this? I have lots of small bits of text that are aligning on an angle, so I'm trying to avoid doing this manually.
