Update on Offset Path on Open Path that only goes on one side?

So I need to make offset paths on open paths the majority of the time, but it makes the offset on two sides.

1) Select Open Path to Offset

2) Mark anchor points at center of Offset.

3) Delete the Side of the offset I don't need with Direct Selection Tool.

More efficient way? Offset path on open path on one side only?

Can I actually offset by certain distance, I just see the guy dragging an offset with no actual measurements. Is this a one time payment?

You can use it either with the tool (which is what happens in the video) or with a dialog box and yes, it's a one-time payment. Since I bought it, I got at least a dozen updates to the tool.

Do you actually need an Offset Path? What about thick stroke (e.g. Stroke weight = 20 pt), aligning stroke side (inside or outsise, depends on your idea) and then, if you need a simple object as a result, Expend Appearance? This way you can select all the paths and apply all changes at once.

It can be done by using art brushes or pattern brushes, but currently not with the Offset Path command (or effect).
