Correct answer Eternal Warrior

I think this is actually just a display issue...

Try this: View > Preview on CPU.

The lines should in theory disappear.

i can't produce this problem at my end so i've been just making assumptions based on other users' posts on it, so i'm kind of interested to see what commonalities there are.

does it happen with every object or just text? is it just this file or all files? does it change as you zoom in or remain static? what graphics card are you using? does anti-aliasing affect it? what OS? did it start happening with a recent version of illustrator?

Yes, it fixed.

You need to use the GPU rather than the CPU for animated zooming...

This will bring back the appearance of the lines... However this isn't an actual problem as we now know that this is just a display issue rather than a print issue.

To re-enable GPU either go View > GPU Preview or use the shortcut Ctrl + E (for windows).

Here's an article that gives you a better idea about what your GPU does in Illustrator etc... GPU Performance
