Vector Gradient Over Raster Not Showing as SVG

I have a graphic that I want to use for products (blankets, clothing, etc.) on my Etsy store via Printify. I have the file in Illustrator 2022 (Mac). It is made of a raster photograph with a gradient on top of it with a Lighten blending mode. I wanted to export it as a high-res SVG (new to SVGs), but the gradient disappears. Is that because I can't save a graphic that uses a raster photo as an SVG? Or am I doing something else wrong? I've tried to flatten transparency on the gradient, but that didn't work. Any ideas? It exports perfectly as a PNG or JPG, but I was hoping that I could magically turn it into a scalable vector. Am I dreaming? lol

This image shows the raster without (top) and with (bottom) the gradient.

Here are my SVG settings, though I will admit I do not know what I'm doing when it comes to SVGs:

Thank you so much!

Hi. SVG format has some support for pixel information but it's oriented primarily to vector information. When I have objects with complex vectors and pixel information I prefer to use another format like png.

Susan,

What happens if you Image Trace (and Expand) the raster image, then put the gradient on top?

Why do you think you need to save it as an SVG? Nothing to gain with that.
