Hi there,

Really sorry to hear about this. We have released an update recently (1.0.3) with stability and bug fixes. Please update the app from the App Store and check if that helps. If not, please share the following details.

Does the app crash as soon as you launch it? If yes, please share some additional details so that we can assist you further. We'd need the crash logs which you could share with me over a direct message.

How to look for the crash logs:

I just had the same problem. Switched off Show Effects When Using Apple Pencil in Apple Pencil Settings and no more crashes. This must be a recent bug in AI or iPadOS because this never used to happen, unless I accidentally switched this feature on recently? Still a bug anyway. I see people having the Apple Pencil crash issue on Procreate forums too, so my money is it being a long term Apple issue being it's still happening years later!

Hello @Bradi157F,

We sincerely apologize for the trouble you're having with Illustrator on the iPad and want to help you get it running as soon as possible,

To help us with this, would you mind checking if all of your work is synced online (https://assets.adobe.com/cloud-documents)? If yes, kindly try deleting Illustrator, restarting your device, and then reinstalling the app to check if it helps. Also, check if the OS installed is up to date (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204).

Having the same problem here too - Aug 2. I noticed the crash starting about a week ago and assumed it was because I was on the iPad OS 17 beta. But, now the beta is public and I've updated to that... and it still crashes. Can't use Illustrator at all.

Just that an operating system is punlic doesn't automatically mean that all apps will magically run on it.

Always wait for the developers to give you a go.

I've checked my requirements and all are ok. As soon as I draw a line or another shape, for that matter, the app still crashes.
I work on an iPad Pro 4th gen, with more than enough RAM

best,

Hello @Manuel Antoni32052346et2q,

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience crashes in Illustrator, especially in the middle of work. Would you mind updating the OS and the Illustrator app to the latest version and checking if it helps?

(https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204), (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202180)

Also, kindly check if all of your work is synced online (https://assets.adobe.com/cloud-documents). If yes, try deleting Illustrator, restarting your device, and then reinstalling the app to check if it helps.

If the issue persists, kindly share the crash report so that we can investigate this further:

  • Open iPad Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. You will see file names like “Illustrator-2023-01-03-083327.ips” (2023-01-03 is the date in the log & 083327 is the time). Ensure you share the recent log file after the crash by looking at the timestamp.
  • Upload the file to (https://assets.adobe.com/files) and share a link to the file here or via DM.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi Pi2539,

Where do I find this " Show Effects When Using Apple Pencil "?  Is this in Adobe Illustrator or on the iPad?

I have iOS 16.6 and I dont see that setting.

Thank you!

Saludos!

Hello,

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 M2 6th generation, and I have installed Illustrator on it. However, I am facing an issue where Illustrator is working fine when used manually, but it crashes when I use the Apple Pencil.

I just upgraded to iOS 17.1.1 and now Illustrator crashed directly after opening a file. I cannot do a thing and it just closes. I already checked the Apple Pencil settings, but unfortunately for me that doesn't do the trick.
Any other ideas on how to get this back to working?

I do not like it that i am paying for an app that crashes on me.

If you can work with your fingers but not with the Apple Pencil. Try turning off the option to show effects when using a digital pencil.

That's why it's a good idea to gather information about compatibility before even upgrading.

That was probably not a good idea.
