How to change multiple selection from Shift + LMB to Ctrl + LMB

WHY is the shortcut Shift + left click and not ctrl + left click??? Why? Just why? This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Can somebody help me and tell me how to fix this retаrded issue, please? I tried finding it in the keyboard shortcuts and online, but since I don't know what the command/shortcut is called I don't know what to look for so I didn't find it.
