%0D being added to all URL's

Hi, I have a problem that I can't find the anwser to, so I'm hoping that you can help.

I'm making a new manual at work, and I have about 600 URL's that I've transfered over from excel.

When I export the file to PDF (Interactive) it auto adds %0d to my URL's so insted of sending the user to: https://www.mysite.eu/the_file.pdf the URL will say http://www.mysite.eu/the_file.pdf%0D

If I then go and delete the %0D from the browser line, the URL workes just fine.

So my question is, how do I get rid of the %0D when exporting to pdf ??

Here is a list of things that I've tried already:

- Export with "Shared destination" checked

- Export with "Shared destination" un-checked

- Checking in excel that the URL don't have any line breaks

- Checking in excel that the URL don't have "carriage return"

- Copying the URL to notepad, and from there to InDesign

- Typing the URL in InDesign manual

Nothing of this has worked for my.. Please help if you can.. The manual will be send out to our customers world wide, so it needs to work..

Try to place the Excel file into InDesign instead of pasting it.

This issue exists in current versions of the Adobe Reader products, english versions.  If only Adobe Reader is installed on the machine, then the %0D is being added to the end of a hyperlink.  If Nitro is installed and used to open the PDF, then the hyperlink works as expected and does not tack on the %0D.  Since the %0D represents a carriage return, then I would suspect that the carriage return is being entered into the Indesign document as hidden code.  Adobe Reader has the ability to read that code, whereas Nitro cannot or ignores it.

Since most people click enter after creating, typing a hyperlink to indicate that it is truly a hyperlink, or possibly test the hyperlink from the document while creating it, then this hidden carriage return could easily be added without a designer realizing it.  Can you please enter this issue as a code bug in In Design so that maybe it can be fixed in future updates.

Ok, had the same issue and figured out the reason/solution. At the end of the url's that are opening with '%0D' included, there is actually an extra space added that needs to be deleted. Go to edit your hyperlink within InDesign, click at the VERY end of the hyperlink (even if you don't see an extra space there), and press backspace once. You'll probably notice that the cursor won't even move; if there wasn't an extra space there, it was instead delete the last key typed. After deleting this (perhaps) invisible extra space, save it. Should now open properly.

Hi
I appreciate your detailed response, but I'm afraid this didn't resolve my
problem.
I've tried to edit the links, clicking backspace, but there wasn't a hidden
character.

Just write the correct adress on your keyboard without pasting anything and than confirm modal OK with your mouse's left button.

Same issue just has been resolved.

Thank you, but there are dozens of addresses and they're very long, I
wished to resolve it automatically and not manually.

When you copy a CELL with a URL the *invisible* characters "%0D" are added to the URL. To verifiy you have invisible characters, on the Hyperlinks panel URL space, try to change the last letter/digit of the URL, by positioning the coursor at the end of the visible URL and backspace to replace. If you need more than one backspace clicks to get the coursor to remove the last character/digit, you have invisible characters on your URL and it will not function properly.

You need to paste the URL as text, and only text. When I copy a URL from an excel file, I place the coursor on the cell but copy the content of the formula bar, which will copy as text, not the cell itself.

I figured it out:

1. Add hyperlink

2. Save the file

3. Go to Edit the link and place the cusror at the end and press backspace

4. Magically the hidden space will be deleted

5. Then Simply save again

6. Repeat for each link

I had this same issue, it was due to there being 'space' at the end of my URL. I found that if I copied the URL directly from the internet search bar and pasted into the hyperlink, there was no extra 'space' at the end and I did not have any more issues.
