Hello Everyone,
We are thrilled to introduce the new Export Content as HTML5 feature in InDesign. With this update, you can now export pages, spreads, or selected objects to HTML5 format with just a few clicks. HTML5 makes your content more accessible and compatible across platforms and boosts both user engagement and SEO! Plus, you have control over how text is exported for optimized web performance.
Please try it and let us know what you think. We can’t wait to see how you use this powerful new feature in your projects.

Hi When trying this feature I cannot access the export options The Smaller dialogue box launches on top with the main box greyed over, showing only the font option or the SVG option as your visual. Cancel quits the Export and Export works well exporting the document. but not as I would like it, the help page shows the various options available but I cannot access area. Am I missing something? Hi @Graemezee1,
Thank you for your patience regarding the export options issue you've been experiencing in Adobe InDesign. I wanted to provide you with an update based on feedback from our product team.
They confirmed that the behavior you're seeing is by design. When exporting via Export > HTML5, the assumption is that users intend to utilize the HTML5 options specifically. If you want to access Publish Online features, you can do so by navigating to File > Publish Online. Even if you dismiss the HTML5 dialog, you can still use the Publish Online features.
Additionally, the team is working on decoupling the HTML5 dialog and the Publish Online dialog in future releases to further reduce any confusion.
If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to reach out!
Thanks,
Abhishek Rao

Seems like a cool feature, but I don't think I will need it for what I do.

If anyone has a live website built in InDesign, definitely post it below. Would love to see how it handles in practice.
Any idea how to address responsiveness? HTML is nice to have, but if we have to re-write it, that's only so useful.

This was the aim of Liquid Layouts a few versions ago, but I think that was aimed mainly at print or digital graphics like social media, rather than a single website. But it seems like that workflow was removed. I really never made use of it. But I do still rock some Liquid Guides, mainly for their dashed appearance!

The idea of designing a website using InDesign is a fantasy. Need the content? Sure, pull it out that way but there is no way you're getting functioning website.

You know @BobLevine , the more I think about your point the more I'm inclined to agree.

Will this eventually get similar features that Muse had?

I hope not. There are too many core features of InDesign that need some serious attention. Creating websites with it should not even be close to a priority.
Just my $0.02 worth on that. The right tool for the right job and for websites there are a ton of tools out there.

This looks neat. But after you publish the HTML, do you re-edit the HTML, or go back into InDesign for changes?

That's up to you.

It works well, but the professional use cases are relatively limited for what is effectively fixed-layout ePub without the Pub. Good for some kiosk set ups, possibly adding live documents to a website, and as an alternative to hosting a document in the Publish Online environment. Overall, the output is quick and accurate in my tests.

that's one of those features I was kind of waiting for

Please report back on the quality of the HTML generated. I'll do the same.

Hi @josefh35143105,
Thank you for reaching out! I'm glad to hear that the layout transferred well for you. To better assist with the issue you're experiencing with the pages not displaying correctly, as well as the tags and thumbnails not working, could you kindly provide a bit more information?
1. Could you please share the details of the operating system you're using?
2. Is this issue happening with only the file you’ve linked or does it occur with multiple files as well?
3. If possible, could you provide a screen recording of your workflow from the export process? This will help us understand the issue better and offer more specific guidance.
Looking forward to your reply!
Best,
Abhishek Rao

Hi Abhishek Rao,
Glad to hear from you.
I am using Win10.
I tried with another document, this is the result: https://www.1133.at/publish/Hietzingerhof/
This time both pages are displayed well but small on one screen and internal links, page panel etc. are not working at all.
Screen recording is attached.
Best regards

Hi @josefh35143105,
Thank you for the updates and the screen recording.
To better assist with the issue, could you please share the original InDesign document (.indd) along with the exported HTML5 file? This will help me identify if there are any inconsistencies during the export process.
Additionally, if possible, could you provide a screenshot showing the difference between the exported HTML5 file and the original InDesign document? This will give us a clearer understanding of the specific areas where the issue might be occurring.
Looking forward to your response!
Best,
Abhishek Rao

Hi @josefh35143105,
Thank you for providing the files via WeTransfer!
To further assist in identifying the issue, could you please also share a screenshot showing the difference between the original InDesign (.indd) document and the exported HTML5 file? A screen recording would also be incredibly helpful in understanding the issue more clearly.
Looking forward to your response, and I appreciate your cooperation in this matter!
Best,
Abhishek Rao
