What is the reason that you are not exporting PDF directly from InDesign?

Your printer is living 2 or 3 decades in the past. Commercial printers these days accept PDF files which have many advantages.
Here's an article I wrote in 2006 in InDesign Secrets (now incorporated into Creative Pro Magazine) comparing using PostScript/Distiller and exporting PDF:

Hi @Sara37015108x8m9 , apparently there is a bug with CC2020 and later on Windows-- read through the link @leo.r posted. If there are any machines running on MacOS at the printer, see if you get the same error-- I'm not seeing the problem running CC2024 on Ventura.

Are you using the Adobe PDF 9.0 PPD? That's working for me with all versions of InDesign--with CC2021 on Mojave and CC2024 on Ventura

no, we are not using the Adobe PDF 9.0 PPD. Do you know where I can get that? Do you have a link?

This fixed my problem (on our Macs and that is good enough for me)!
