Can anyone recommend a comprehensive InDesign& photoshop course preferably online for the beginner (paid is fine).

I need to quickly accelerate in designing brochures/ catalogs etc. and preparation of graphics for conferences/ trade shows.

Thanks & regards,

Gosia

    I'd take a look at  https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html

You can pick your way through tutorials which you need.

It's hard to argue with the quality of Lynda.com/LinkedIn Learning videos. They're the best. The problem is that watching training videos like these is like using a fire hose to put out a smoldering cigarette. For beginners the problem is even more acute. More experienced users know enough to pick and choose which videos to watch to learn what they need to get the job done. Newbies know nothing. So instead of homing in on a few specific titles or chapters, newbies either waste their time trying to learn everything, or simply throw up their hands in confused defeat.

As an Adobe Certified Training Partner, I'm often contacted by panicky people like you who don't know where to turn. I explain the advantages of video-based training like Lynda/LinkedIn (price, convenience), but explain the downsides as well. Those who decide to engage me or another private trainer, do so because they understand that private, one-on-one, training can be tailored to get the job done without wasting precious time learning unnecessary or unneeded skills.

I agree. While online courses at Lynda (or LinkedIn since they've been bought out) are great, fast-tracking yourself into a specific area of print design involves much more than merely knowing which buttons to push in InDesign and Photoshop. It requires design theory, as well as some prepress knowledge and solid understanding of how various types of graphics and assets are prepared and processed before placement in a brochure.

The trouble with actual part-time live classes is that the instructor quality may vary dramatically, from excellent to horrible, even at very highly rated colleges. Before taking any actual classes, check with existing students.

At least at Lynda the quality is consistent, but you would have to have someone point out a learning track for you.

Lynda does have a number of learning paths:

Become a Graphic Designer - Learning Path

Become a Print Production Professional - Learning Path

And you would have to do these:

    InDesign CC 2019 Essential Training

Photoshop CC 2019 Essential Training: The Basics

But all in all, you'd still be looking at a month or two worth of intense learning part time. Perhaps find someone who is experienced and who can act like a mentor to you?

Few colleges have Adobe Certified Instructors, and I am not sure that any are Adobe Authorized Training Centers. I agree that it’s a good idea to ask questions about the instructor.

For online, I agree that Lynda.com (now LinkedIn Learning) is best, but also keep in mind that most Adobe Authorized Training Centers offer the option of attending a live class from a remote location. The benefit is that you as part of a live class, you can ask questions.

If you want more info, I can give specific suggestions.

AGI also has training centers that teach beginner InDesign and Photoshop classes online and in person that are also really good. I second Bob's sugggestion of Lynda.com / LinkedIn Learning for training via the computer.

Thanks for AGI hint. Unfortunately, there are not that many authorized Adobe training centers in my region (living in Denmark).
