Can't export quotation marks in an open source font to PDF
Copy link to clipboard

I updated my OS to Monterey and this started to happen: open-source font Heebo can not be properly exported to PDF because quotation marks turn to a weird rectangle. If I change the font it goes back to normal. But unfortunately, I need to use this font. I updated the InDesign version to 17.0. It didn't help.
Any ideas?

Hi Irrumba,
this could be a bug with InDesign 17.0 or 17.0.1 on Mac OS.
We recently had a case here at the forum with a similar issue regarding Umlauts, ä,ö,ü,Ä,Ö,Ü with a different font downloaded from Google Fonts: Arimo. On my Windows 10 system I had no issues at all. See:
Umlauts generate small square after export

How is Heebo installed in your system? Do you use a font management application on your machine?
Will it work if you uninstall the font and make it available for InDesign only by the following options:
[1] Copy the font file to the Fonts folder of your Adobe InDesign 2022 application folder.
[2] Make the font available only for documents that share the same folder with a Document fonts folder where the font file is copied to.
Do a bug report at Adobe InDesign UserVoice:

In case my suggestions above will not work:
Switch back to InDesign 2021 version 16.4.

Thank yo so much, Uwe! Your solution to reinstall the font into the InDesign directory worked.
Will need to figure out how to properly install the font to work with it in Illustrator.

Hi Irrumba,
maybe it will also work if you install the font again in the system.
That was the solution to a similar issue here:
